PRIVACY POLICY
Your data, in plain words
Last updated 17 October 2026
Studious (“we”, “us”) is a study app for university students in Pakistan, at trystudious.me. This policy explains what we collect when you use it, why, who helps us run it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads.
1. What we collect
- Your account. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash), or your Google account’s name and email if you sign in with Google.
- Your study profile. University, program, semester, the courses you pick, your language and theme choices.
- Your learning. Diagnostic results, lessons you finish, answers to practice and mock exams, topic mastery, study plans, grades and exam dates you enter, and your timetable.
- What you write or upload. Messages to Buddy, the AI tutor; notes, past papers and timetable images you upload; and messages in study groups.
- A parent or guardian’s email, only if you choose to send them a weekly summary.
- Payments. Your plan, amounts and dates. Card numbers, wallet PINs and similar details are handled by the payment provider, not stored by us.
- Technical data. Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, and basic server logs (such as IP address and time of a request) used for security and to fix errors. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
2. How we use it
- To run your account and show your courses, lessons, practice and progress.
- To adapt practice and plans to what you already know.
- To let Buddy answer your questions and read the files you give it.
- To send emails you asked for, such as the weekly parent summary.
- To handle payments and your plan.
- To keep Studious secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We use your data only for these purposes. We don’t sell it, rent it or use it for advertising.
3. Buddy and AI
When you message Buddy or ask it to read a note, past paper or timetable, that text or file is sent to OpenAI to produce the answer. Under OpenAI’s terms for API customers, data sent through the API is not used to train their models. Don’t share passwords, CNIC numbers or other sensitive personal details in chats or uploads.
AI answers can be wrong. Check important things, such as exam dates and grading, against your university’s official sources.
5. Where it’s stored
Your data is stored outside Pakistan, mainly in India (Mumbai). Some of our services may process it in other countries, such as the United States. By using Studious you understand that your data will be transferred there.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete your profile, learning data and uploads within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (such as payment records), which we keep only as long as required. Backups clear on their own schedule shortly after.
7. Your choices
- See and change your profile and settings in the app at any time.
- Turn off the weekly parent summary in Settings, or with the link in any summary.
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or to delete your account, by writing to support@trystudious.me from your account’s email. We reply within 30 days.
8. Security
Traffic is encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are hashed, and database rules let each student read only their own data. Admin accounts need a second sign-in step. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we’ll tell you.
9. Age
Studious is for university students. You must be at least 16 to use it. If you’re under 18, use it with your parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you think a child under 16 has given us data, write to us and we’ll delete it.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. For important changes we’ll also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
